Motor Finance Wizard Campaign
Saturday 24 May

Consumer Action is continuing its campaign against unfair practices of motor car traders. We have received numerous consumer complaints about the practices of Motor Finance Wizard, including:
- Sales targeting towards low-income and vulnerable consumers
- Inflated costs of vehicles
- Poor quality of vehicles
The role of the campaign is to offer potential customers of Motor Finance Wizard free consumer information and legal advice concerning the lending and business practices of the company, and to also offer free RACV mechanical and roadworthy inspections to those who have made a purchase or are considering doing so. We have begun a presence outside Motor Finance Wizard’s Melbourne dealerships. Motor Finance Wizard operates from Maidstone and Dandenong in Melbourne, as well as in Sydney and Brisbane.
We’re interested in hearing from consumers who have had bad experiences with Motor Finance Wizard – please email campaigns@consumeraction.org.au. If you would like to join in or support our campaign, please contact us.
Do Not Knock campaign
Are you sick of salespeople door knocking your home? Consumer Action has released a “Do Not Knock” sticker, which warns sales representatives that they are in breach of the law if they knock on a door to which the sticker is affixed. Please download the sticker here or send us a stamped, self addressed envelope, should you want a sticker.
We also want to know about your experience with door knockers. Email us with your story – it can be anonymous if you like. You can also:
- Lodge a complaint with relevant dispute resolution schemes.
- Complain to the relevant regulators or government agency.
- If your complaint is about energy marketing, we strongly encourage you to contact the Australian Energy Market Commission. You can contact them by emailing submissions@aemc.gov.au or by calling 02 8296 7800.
Do Not Knock stickers are also available for collection at a range of community organisations around Victoria. You can collect a sticker from the following locations:
